Tangerines are one of the tastiest and healthiest citrus fruits due to their high content of vitamin C and their sweetness usually greater than that of oranges.

They are very energizing and are always available during the winter period.

And yes, we anticipate that dogs can eat them but in moderation! since they contain sugar that, in excess, can lead to diabetes.

It is very normal for your dog to be attracted to the smell and taste of tangerines and end up begging you to give it a slice. Do it without fear but offer very small servings.

Are mandarins suitable for consumption by dogs?

Tangerines are a safe fruit for our dogs that contain numerous vitamins; the only issue is the sugar. Nor should we exceed the dose of vitamin C that we supply.

In general, this rule of giving a small amount applies to practically all foods other than those specifically formulated for them, since kibble and wet food are perfectly balanced.

Can Dogs Eat Other Citrus Fruits?

Dogs can eat tangerines and therefore also oranges and other citrus fruits in general. Although, as you will guess, they will never be lemon lovers and, probably, orange will also seem too acidic.

For them, mandarins are a sweet treat to enjoy after their meal. A slice or a maximum of two will be enough to make your dog happy .

forbidden fruits for dogs?

Most fruits contain big amounts of sugar in them and they are a highly coveted food for dogs. However, and precisely for this reason, we cannot exceed ourselves and we must distinguish between those that can consume and those that cannot.

Not all fruits are suitable for our four-legged friends because some can be toxic to dogs. You have to be very careful!

What fruits can dogs eat?

In small doses, dogs can eat

  • Kiwi.
  • Pineapple.
  • Strawberries.
  • Blueberries (although they can be irritating to the intestines of some dogs).

If you have doubts about any specific fruit that your dog loves, we advise you to consult your vet. They will evaluate your friend’s health status better than anyone else and will see if it is appropriate to give it that delicacy that it covets so much.
